Malawi has formally authorised a dairy biogas initiative under Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement, according to Carbon Pulse. The programme operates as the country's first project designed to generate Internationally Transferred Mitigation Outcomes by reducing emissions directly from the agriculture sector and household energy use.

In a separate development regarding national food security, a citizen coalition has scheduled a nationwide gathering for April 17 to highlight recent drops in maize prices, Nyasa Times reports. Billed as a "National Thanksgiving March", the event is organised as a grassroots show of appreciation for President Arthur Peter Mutharika and his economic policies compared to the previous administration under Lazarus Chakwera. Organisers credit the price reduction and improved food availability to recent government interventions, specifically targeted maize imports and the revival of Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (ADMARC) markets. The cost of the staple grain has fallen from previous highs of K100,000 per 50-kilogram bag to a current range of K38,000 to K60,000.
