Update: Flames Depart for Four Nations Tournament as Scorchers Prepare for FIFA Women's Series

Update: The Malawi men's national football team departed for Botswana on Wednesday for the Mukuru Four Nations Tournament, where they will face Zambia on March 28. Head coach Kalisto Pasuwa's finalised 25-man squad will be without Mighty Wanderers midfielder Blessings Singini, who was ruled out after contracting malaria, reports Nyasa Times. Furthermore, the Football Association of Malawi confirmed that Iraq-based defender Denis Chembezi is also missing the tournament due to travel restrictions.

In women's football, Malawi has been selected to participate in the inaugural 2026 FIFA Women's Series, which will be hosted in Kenya. According to the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation, the Malawian women will open their Group 4 campaign against Australia on April 11 at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi. The winner will advance to face either Kenya or India on April 15.

Meanwhile, the Malawi men's national cricket team opened their ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Sub Regional Qualifier B campaign in Accra, Ghana, with a loss. On March 24, Malawi suffered an eight-wicket defeat to Tanzania, according to Sports Tak.

In domestic football, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets announced on March 23 that Oscar Petro has joined Civil Service United on loan ahead of the upcoming season, according to the club's official website.
