In the central region, St. John of God Hospitaller Services Malawi is launching a three-year mental health project within the Lilongwe Archdiocese health facilities, Malawi Freedom Network reports. The initiative will integrate mental health services into the primary healthcare system across Dowa, Mchinji, and Lilongwe districts. Targeting exactly 15,306 individuals, the project aims to improve access to care and promote community recovery.

Meanwhile, the Catholic Diocese of Zomba has improved local emergency response capacity by handing over a new Toyota Land Cruiser ambulance to the Matiya Health Centre, according to AMECEA News. Bishop Alfred Mateyu Chaima presented the vehicle on Wednesday. The ambulance was donated through MIVA Austria to assist the facility in managing medical referrals for its catchment population of 36,000 people.
