Sunday, March 1, 2026

The Malawian arts and entertainment sector received a major financial boost this week as the Copyright Fund disbursed K229 million in royalties to local creatives, according to The Daily Times. The payout, managed by the Copyright Society of Malawi, distributed millions of kwacha to top musicians and artists to compensate them for their commercial play and creative output over the recent period.

In the live performance circuit, musicians Lawi and 'M'bona' are preparing for a highly anticipated concert at Apollo, The Daily Times reports. The weekend's entertainment schedule features a variety of cultural events across the country. Fans of the spoken word are gathering for a Poetry Feast hosted at the Alliance Francaise de Blantyre this Sunday, while Blantyre's Kwaharaba recently hosted a traditional Mangolongondo Night. Additionally, Mulanje is hosting a Love and Vibes Fun Day to round out the weekend.

The country's fashion and theatre stages are also active with new productions. According to The Daily Times, Model Mabel is making her return to the runway with an upcoming fashion show. Meanwhile, theatregoers can look forward to the stage play 'Until I Afford Soap', which is currently scheduled to run at the Madsoc Theatre.
