According to the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC), stakeholders are raising alarms over the safety of children acting as unsupervised content creators on platforms like TikTok and YouTube. Parents and digital media analysts have noted weak local enforcement of age boundaries, which leaves minors exposed to adult content. In response to this trend, the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority has announced efforts to promote a safer digital environment. The authority is setting new ICT standards and coordinating cyber safety responses through the national Computer Emergency Response Team.

In related education developments, non-governmental organisations and stakeholders are advocating for balanced investments that support both boys and girls in the classroom, MBC reports. For years, scholarships and mentorship programmes heavily targeted female students. Education commentators warn this has left boys behind. The Ministry of Education and the Forum for African Women Educationalists in Malawi have publicly welcomed the shift toward inclusive educational strategies, noting that an equitable system benefits the entire nation.

Meanwhile, the Malawi Institute of Education has trained its curriculum specialists on the Zorin Operating System to strengthen technology integration in the national syllabus. According to an official statement, the capacity-building workshop was facilitated by the K2 Tigwiranemanja AIDS Support Organisation. The training focused on equipping staff to use alternative operating systems and assess new digital curriculum resources for public schools.

In rural education news, a mobility support initiative has enabled a 26-year-old woman from Dowa District to begin formal schooling for the very first time. According to the Malawi Project, the local organisation Action for Progress distributed a newly designed tricycle to Madalitso Frackson, who previously could not travel to classrooms due to a lack of disability aids. The new mobility device has allowed her to officially enrol in Standard One at Chisepo Primary School.
