Update: Zodiak TV has broadcast an exclusive 'Art Beat' television feature highlighting the 2026 Women in Arts Conference in Lilongwe. The March 31 broadcast showed female creatives from the Malawian music, film, visual arts, and fashion sectors gathering to discuss gender disparities across the industry.
The inaugural event was organised by the Department of Arts under the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture, using funding from UNESCO's International Fund for Cultural Diversity. According to Zodiak TV, the conference serves as a core component of the ongoing Mainstreaming Gender Equality in Malawi's Cultural and Creative Sector project. Notable attendees featured in the broadcast included fashion designer Lilly Alfonso, The Nation reports.
