Ghana's Legacy Crop Improvement Centre (LCIC) has acquired Malawian seed supplier Renaissance Seeds to expand its pan-African operations, according to the Ghana News Agency. Renaissance Seeds, known locally by the tagline "Akatswiri opanga MBEWU", supplies affordable seed varieties to smallholder farmers across Southern Africa. LCIC Chief Executive Officer Dr Amos Rutherford Azinu described the cross-border acquisition as a significant step in consolidating the seed business across sub-Saharan Africa.

In Lilongwe, stakeholders in the agriculture sector have gathered for the Agriculture Innovation and Technology Conference and Exhibition (AGRITEC), which runs from April 1 to April 3 at Umodzi Park. According to the Pan African Learning and Growth Network, the event operates under the theme "Transforming Malawi's Agriculture through Innovation, Technology and Inclusive Partnerships". The conference connects policymakers, investors, and farmers to discuss practical solutions for persistent farming challenges, including climate change impacts and low mechanisation.
