The High Court of Malawi has dismissed an application by Yusuf Investments Limited to unfreeze bank accounts connected to the Amaryllis Hotel, according to Nyasa Times and Malawi24. Justice Redson Kapindu rejected the company's urgent bid on procedural grounds, stating the legal filings were flawed and failed to comply with established court rules. The accounts remain locked under the Financial Crimes Act and the Corrupt Practices Act as investigations into the hotel's financial dealings continue.

Malawi Aims for 80 Percent Digital Access by 2030
The government has launched a national digital plan designed to provide digital services to 80 percent of the population by 2030, TechAfrica News reports. The strategy, supported by President Arthur Peter Mutharika, focuses on modernising state services and expanding public-private partnerships. The initiative coincides with a reported drop in data costs from $12 to $4.20 per megabyte, a shift officials hope will accelerate internet adoption nationwide.

Update: Pushback Continues Over Second Vice President Budget
Accountability advocates have escalated their criticism of the K4.15 billion budget allocation for the Office of Second Vice President Enoch Chihana. According to Nyasa Times, K4 billion of the 2026/27 funding is designated for "Other Recurrent Transactions," leaving just K150 million for personal emoluments. Willy Kambwandira of the Centre for Social Accountability and Transparency condemned the allocation as a misplacement of national priorities. Government and AfDB Sign Kapichira Power Station Deal
