The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has approved 14 stadiums to host elite football competitions for the 2026/2027 season, while Kamuzu Stadium, Nankhaka Stadium, and Mzuzu Stadium have been declared unfit, according to the FAM website. FAM Competitions and Licensing Manager Clement Kafwafwa stated that the three venues failed to resolve infrastructure deficiencies identified during a January inspection. The new domestic season will kick off with a Blantyre Derby, as FCB Nyasa Big Bullets face Mighty Wanderers in the NBS Bank Charity Shield match at Bingu National Stadium.

In international youth football, Malawi Under-20 Women's National Team head coach Maggie Chombo has named a 29-member squad to begin preparations for an upcoming World Cup qualifier against Nigeria, FAM announced.

Update: The Malawi Scorchers opened their FIFA Series campaign in Nairobi with a 5-0 defeat to Australia, according to match reports from FAM. In related youth fixtures, the Young Scorchers suffered a 1-2 home loss to Burundi in the first leg of their FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup qualifying tie.

Update: The Industrial Relations Court hearing for former Flames coach Patrick Mabedi, who is demanding K917 million in compensation from FAM for unlawful dismissal, has been adjourned to April 28, 2026. Nyasa Times reports that the delay was granted after FAM's legal team requested a postponement due to the unavailability of their lead counsel.
