Authorities in Lilongwe have arrested a suspect for illegally flying a drone over the official residence of Vice President Jane Ansah, according to Malawi Cables. Richard Mveriwa, spokesperson for the Office of the Vice President, stated that security personnel intercepted the hovering drone late at night and handed both the device and its operator over to police. The motive behind the flight remains under investigation. This security incident occurs alongside ongoing political pressure pushing for the Vice President to resign.

Update: The search for a new Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director General has narrowed, with eight candidates shortlisted from an initial pool of 50 applicants, Nyasa Times reports. Interviews led by the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs are taking place this week under strict secrecy, with retired Justice of Appeal Anthony Kamanga reportedly among the contenders. The recruitment process faces questions over the academic credentials of certain candidates, prompting the Ministry to conduct additional verification checks with the National Council for Higher Education. Secretary for Justice Fabiano Kapamwamba declined to provide further specifics, citing the confidentiality of the active interviews.
