The Super League of Malawi (SULOM) is seeking a more equitable broadcasting revenue deal for local clubs ahead of the 2026/27 season. Senior officials from FIFA Plus TV are expected to visit Malawi to review the current broadcasting arrangement and observe local football, according to The Maravi Post.

During the SULOM Annual General Meeting held in Salima over the weekend, President Gilbert Mitawa revealed that the existing three-year agreement with FIFA+ has yielded minimal financial returns for Super League teams. Mitawa noted that the current deal netted only around K40 million in 2025. He explained that the contract, which was signed under the previous Football Association of Malawi (FAM) leadership, did not adequately protect the financial interests of the clubs despite providing match exposure on a global platform.

FAM President Fleetwood Haiya supported the push for reform and stressed the importance of revising the contract before the new season begins. Haiya emphasized that international broadcasting visibility must translate into actual financial growth for the clubs. SULOM officials have expressed optimism that the upcoming negotiations will lead to a more profitable broadcasting arrangement.
