Update: Interviews for the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director General position began this week under strict confidentiality, according to Nyasa Times. Eight candidates were shortlisted from an initial pool of 50 applicants. The Ministry of Justice instituted additional verification measures to validate the academic credentials of the remaining candidates. Secretary for Justice Fabiano Kapamwamba confirmed the active recruitment process but told reporters that all details will remain restricted until a final selection is presented to the president.

In court news, the High Court in Blantyre scheduled a virtual hearing for April 15 to establish directions in the murder case of Dr. Victoria Bobe, according to AfricaBrief. Justice Ruth Chinangwa will preside over the proceedings. Seven suspects face formal charges regarding the fatal shooting of the medical lecturer during a robbery at her Chigumula residence in November 2025.

Update: Former Finance Minister and current opposition leader Simplex Chithyola has been released on a K2 million bail following his initial court appearance, according to Nyasa Times. Chithyola previously surrendered to police over allegations of money laundering and abuse of office tied to his time in the previous administration, reports Pan African Visions. Appearing before the Lilongwe Magistrate's Court on April 14, presiding magistrate Benjamin Chulu formally read the charges to Chithyola before granting his release.
