Mighty Wanderers Football Club Head Coach Gerald "Bob" Mpinganjira has embarked on a ten-day professional coaching placement at English Championship side Queens Park Rangers (QPR) starting Friday, according to Nyasa Times. The placement, which runs until April 26, will see Mpinganjira working alongside QPR's professional coaching staff across their youth and development squads at the TSG Elite Training Centre in London. Nyasa Times reports that the tour follows a recent attachment with Scottish club Partick Thistle and was facilitated by the sports advisory firm Rainbow World Group to enhance the professional development of African club coaches.

In domestic football, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have appointed defender Blessings Mpokera as their new club captain ahead of the 2026/2027 campaign, according to a statement on the club's official website. Mpokera takes the armband from midfielder Frank Willard, who had served as captain since August 2025. Head coach Gilbert Chirwa cited Mpokera's experience and leadership qualities as key factors in the decision, which comes just days before the team faces rivals Mighty Wanderers in the NBS Bank Charity Shield. In related club news, Bullets wingback Chrispin Mapemba successfully underwent knee surgery in Tanzania this week.

Meanwhile, Bullets interim coach Gilbert Chirwa has dismissed concerns over his team's three consecutive losses to Mighty Wanderers last season as the two sides prepare for Saturday's Blantyre Derby at Bingu National Stadium. According to Pan-Africa Football, Chirwa emphasised that the team has been strengthened with new players and carries a fresh mindset into the new year. Wanderers assistant coach McDonald Mtetemera echoed similar sentiments, noting that past results will not dictate the outcome of the weekend clash, which serves as a final warm-up before the new Premiership season kicks off on April 25.
