Update: Lake of Stars Announces Community Events as Malawian Artists Release Fresh Tracks

Update: The Lake of Stars Malawi Arts Festival has announced new community-focused initiatives ahead of its October 2026 return to Nkhotakota, according to Music In Africa. Organisers plan to host a village football tournament from September 20 to October 4 to promote female sports participation. The tournament draws inspiration from Malawian football star Temwa Chawinga. Additionally, a youth-focused 'Day of Ideas' event is scheduled for October 1 to encourage leadership and creativity among secondary school students in the lakeshore communities.

Update: In local music developments, Malawian artists rolled out several fresh tracks this week. Following his recent releases, Joe Ikon dropped another single titled 'Pang'ono' on April 17 from his 'Atate' EP project, Zedwap reports. Meanwhile, music platform Amati Zambiri highlighted a wave of new releases hitting the airwaves. These include the collaborative track 'Fake Hip-hop' by Long Cee Tembo and Mac Diver, as well as Elker XXVI's new single 'Kutali' and Hop Cee's 'Pompa'.
