Malawi women’s national football team coach Lovemore Fazili says the Scorchers are ready for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, scheduled for March 17 to April 3, according to Nation Online. Nation Online reports that Fazili said lessons from the ongoing Cosafa Women’s Championship, where Malawi exited at the group stage, have strengthened the team, and he wants the squad to remain in camp with only a few weeks left before the finals. Nation Online quotes FAM operations director Gomezgani Zakazaka as saying there is already a plan for the Scorchers not to break camp, and that FAM is monitoring the condition of foreign-based players expected to join the preparations.

In domestic football, FAM has announced the player transfer window will open on March 1 and is expected to close around April 25, according to Nation Online. Nation Online reports Zakazaka as saying the window follows the conclusion of the Castel Challenge Cup, and that transfers only become official once processed through Mpira Connect registration. Nation Online reports that Mighty Wanderers have signed Moyale Barracks striker Lameck Mithi on a three-year deal, FCB Nyasa Bullets have agreed terms with Karonga United for goalkeeper Maclean Mwale, and Masters Security FC have been active in the market after taking over a TNM Super League slot.

In netball, the Netball Association of Malawi has unveiled new expatriate coach Debbie Fuller, who says she is targeting a top-seven finish at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and qualification for the 2027 Netball World Cup, according to Nation Online. Nation Online reports that Fuller said the targets are realistic, and that her early focus will be improving the Malawi Queens’ transitions and consistency during matches.
