Relatives and campaigners have raised transparency concerns after the names of five alleged suspects were quietly removed from an online petition demanding justice for Abdul Aziz Panjwani, a 22-year-old Malawian who died following an altercation at WheelHouse Cottage in Salima, the Mail & Guardian reports. While witnesses claim Panjwani was assaulted by a group before being run over, Malawi Police Service deputy spokesperson Superintendent Alfred Chimthere confirmed that only the driver of the vehicle, Amaan Kansia, has been arrested and remanded to Maula Prison. Chimthere warned against a "trial by public opinion," noting that investigators found no evidence linking the other individuals to criminal wrongdoing and that the Director of Public Prosecutions will determine if further charges are necessary.

In Lilongwe, police arrested a 25-year-old man for allegedly selling counterfeit tickets at the Bingu National Stadium during the Charity Shield football match between FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Wanderers, according to Nyasa Times. Lingadzi Police Station Public Relations Officer Maria Kumwenda stated that officers apprehended Wyson Kamangira with 168 fake tickets and K338,000 in suspected illicit proceeds. Authorities have launched further investigations to identify other individuals potentially involved in the fraudulent ticket production ring, and the suspect is expected to appear in court soon to answer charges.
