Legal disputes have disrupted the leadership of the nation's copyright regulator. The High Court of Malawi has officially suspended the appointment of new board members to the Copyright Society of Malawi (Cosoma) pending a judicial review, Nation Online reports. Despite the board suspension, Cosoma has continued its regulatory work, recently pushing for creative freedom amidst censorship concerns and addressing royalty payment delays, according to Nation Online.

In the local music scene, artist Fada Moti dropped his latest single 'Jump,' clearing up fan confusion surrounding the track's promotional campaign. According to Leyman Publications, early artwork featuring playing cards led fans to expect a song about card games, but the final release proved to be an upbeat dance track blending amapiano and dancehall styles. Meanwhile, Lilongwe-based Afro-pop singer Praise Umali released a new single titled 'Sindimamva,' an introspective track exploring themes of emotional resilience, as noted by DJ Mido Music Tz.

Update: Preparations for the Lake of Stars Festival are moving forward, with official organizers opening the call for artists to perform at the upcoming event.
