Ethanol distiller PressCane Limited has completed a K10 billion effluent treatment and waste-to-fertiliser plant in Chikwawa. According to Nation Online and Nyasa Times, the new facility addresses recent severe pollution complaints by managing industrial waste while simultaneously producing agricultural inputs for local farmers.
In a separate effort to address changing weather conditions, farmers in Dowa are being urged to adopt climate-smart agricultural techniques, the Malawiana Times reports.
